My new favorite excuse for lying

In the government shutdown debacle of early April, Senator John Kyl stated during debate on the Senate floor that "well over 90% of what Planned Parenthood does" is pay for abortion.

CNN apparently decided to do a little fact checking and came up with the real number, which is something more like 3%. In speaking to Kyl's office, they received this statement.

If you have access to the Colbert Report, you definitely should watch his response to Senator Kyl, but Viacom took the clips off YouTube and this was the best I could find.

In what I would imagine Kyl hopes to be the last press on this humorous, but not actually an issue, issue he has stated that he 'misspoke' and that the "not intended as fact" quote is just a response from one of his press people.

According to Politico (I did not check the record myself), Kyl has also gone so far as to revise his comments for the final Congressional record, removing the non-factual statement. While any senator has the option to do this, thankfully (?) you cannot erase YouTube.
